Geographical location
Château La Gasparde is situated on a hillside of the Côtes de Castillon, on the border of secondary road 17, and extends over 18 hectares in one piece on the commune of Gardegan and Tourtirac. From the Château, the exceptional view extends over the slopes of the Dordogne, where you can see the Château de Michel Montaigne.
Soil type
shallow clay-limestone, difficult to work because of the numerous boulders and subsoil with asters most favourable to the vine, is a typical example of the geological structure that Professor Henri Enjalbert loved. The twin of the terroir is found to the west in the extension of the hillside at the same altitude in the classified Grands Crus of Saint-Emilion.
Grape varieties
85% Merlot for roundness, 12% Cabernet Franc for elegance, 3% Cabernet Sauvignon for the framework.
Awards
